Netanyahu Wants Regular Meetings with Abbas

by Eric on September 7, 2010

While I am skeptical of the results, I will agree that having Netanyahu at the negotiating table has a chance of leading to a more extensive peace agreement with the Palestinian Authority.

Now Bibi is looking for concrete plans at a fast pace.  After last week’s meeting, Netanyahu is looking for regularly scheduled meetings with PA President Mahmoud Abbas.  The two are going to be meeting in Egypt on September 14th, and Netanyahu wants to continue in Jerusalem on the 15th.

The key to Netanyahu’s approach seems to be a drive for action, rather than a drive to negotiate.  He does not want to build a drawn out process with many involved parties.  He wants to sit down with Abbas and make decisions that will drive a final proposal forward.

“I believe that what is needed now in order to move the process is not multiplicity of [negotiation] teams but rather decisions of leaders.” -Netanyahu
