If you follow the news about Israel and compare the stories to what is actually going on, you are likely aware of the major biases against Israel in many international news sources. Outlets like CNN and The Guardian show constant favoritism in reporting that has to do with the Arab-Israel conflicts, and Israel is always on the losing side.
I have long wondered what Israel should do about this public relations battle that we are constantly losing. Israel does not need to lie to win international favoritism. Quite the opposite, Israel is the only truly free and working democracy in the Middle East. Arab parties have elected members of the Knesset. Yes, they are a minority, but Arabs only make up 20% of Israel’s population. I would expect them to be a minority. Israel respects the rights of all citizens regardless of sexual orientation (unlike the United States, religion (unlike the rest of the Middle East), or gender (unlike most Muslim countries).
Pallywood is a fast and powerful media manipulation machine. One of the most famous and successfully Pallywood endeavors was the lie of Mohammed Al-Durah. Just this week, though, a widely respected British publication, The Guardian, wrote a completely fabricated story about Israel sharing nuclear technology with Apartheid South Africa. This is clearly a smear campaign to connect Israel with the word Apartheid, though it is far from the truth.
So my question and challenge to readers: what can we do better?
