UNIFIL, the United Nations security force deployed to maintain peace on the Israel-Lebanon border, has confirmed Israel’s position that all soldiers were working within Israel when a Lebanese Army sniper fired across the international border killing two Israeli soldiers.

The “Mariam” is a Lebanese ship intended to be a second flotilla. Unlike the first violent episode, this ship is to be filled with women and journalists. There is no word on whether the ship is intended to be violent, but it is intended to head to the Gaza Strip.

State Department leaders have said that they are concerned that military aid to Lebanon is ending up in the hands of Hezbollah terrorists, and that is unacceptable.

Around 10:30am on August 3rd, a group of IDF soldiers was clearing brush long the Israel-Lebanon border fence when a sniper began firing. The Israelis were reportedly in two groups, and the more senior officers from the group were the ones that took completely unprovoked fire.
