by Anthony Reich on July 26, 2010

Six Israeli Air Force (IAF) personnel and one Romanian serviceman were reported missing on Monday afternoon after an Israeli helicopter crashed in the Romanian mountains in bad weather.  The helicopter was flying at low altitude while taking part in “Blue Sky 2010″, a joint Israeli and Romanian aviation exercise which was due to last 11 days.

Israeli and Romanian rescue craft were finding it difficult to locate and reach the crash site due to the bad weather and mountainous terrain.  The six IAF soldiers on board the CH-53 transport helicopter were four pilots and two mechanics, representing two complete crews.
