by Anthony Reich on December 24, 2009

Meir Hai, a resident of the West Bank settlement of Shavei Shomron was killed in a shooting attack near his home on Thursday afternoon.  Hai, a 45 year-old teacher and father of 7 was killed when militants opened fire on his car.

The Palestinian news agency Ma’an reported that the Imad Mughniyeh Group, affiliated with Fatah’s Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, had claimed responsibility for the shooting.

Large numbers of Israeli security forces were alerted to the scene to investigate the event.

Over the past year, the number of attacks in the West Bank have dramatically decreased due to the Shin Bet security service and the IDF undertaking operations to reduce the terror infrastructure.
