Netanyahu and Abbas Are Chillin’ in New York

by Eric on September 22, 2009

I am not sure if chillin’ is the right word, but it got your attention, right?  Ahead of a meeting with President Barack Obama, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas of the Fatah party are together in New York.

The two reportedly shook hands prior to meeting with Obama in an attempt to resume stagnant peace talks.  In June, Bibi offered that a Palestinian state may be on the horizon.  Abbas responded by holding a Fatah conference in which terrorists from all around the PA and Middle East voted on a high leadership council.

If history is any predictor of the future, here is what I think will happen.  Bibi will hold his ground on reasonable issues, such as large Jewish town population growth, and Fatah will demand Israel withdraw from 100% of the territory captured in the 1967 war and allow every single Palestinian displaced and all of their descendants to return to Israel.  Even if the PA agrees to something, they will ignore their obligations just like they did after signing the Oslo accords.

Does that sound right to everyone else?
