Swine Flu Spreads in Israel

H1N1 flue, or Swine Flu, or Mexican Flu (depending on who you ask) has spread further in Israel and has claimed its 6th, 7th, and 8th casualty.

A 60 year old woman died in a Haifa area hospital due to complications from the illness. The fast spreading flu strain has killed many elderly adults and young children around the world after an initial spread from Mexico.

2,200 Israelis have been diagnosed with the strand of the flu, and over half infected are under 30. Only 5% are over fifty. The elderly are more susceptible to complications and death from the virus.

Prime Minister Netanyahu has authorized 450 million NIS to purchase enough vaccine for every single Israeli, though the health ministry only plans to treat high risk patients.
