Human Rights Watch Condemns Hamas

by Eric on August 6, 2009

It took awhile, arguable too little too late, but Human Rights Watch has finally issued a report stating that the Gaza rocket attacks on Israel were a war crime.

The New York based group is highly critical of Israel, but turned the tables and released a report stating the obvious. The report makes two major statements about the rocket attacks. First, the rockets are essentially unguided and, when fired into civilian areas, equate a war crime. Second, firing the rockets from civilian areas in Gaza was a second war crime, as it put more innocent people at risk from both the rockets themselves and retaliation.

It’s too bad this report was not released when the rest of the world still cared. From all of the immediate reports, Israel looked like the bad guy. However, as many of us knew, it was not the truth.
