US Tries To Relax Israel Tensions

Tensions between Israel and the United States have been on the rise ever since President Barak Obama demanded a total halt to settlement growth.

Benjamin Netanyahu has tried to meet Obama in the middle. Israel has offered to work on cutting down growth, but refuses to prevent natural growth, or growth from families having children. A US official also said that previous unwritten agreements with Israel are no longer valid.

Now, the US has realized the wedge Obama drove between Israel and the US. A senior official told Ha’aretz that “there is no crisis in our relationship with Israel, and we will succeed in reaching understandings on the matter of settlements.”

Netanyahu has had several meetings with high profile advisers and ministers. The team is skeptical of Obama’s recent speech in Cairo. They say they are committed to peace, but Israel’s national interests, namely security, come first.
