US Envoy: We Won’t Honor Previous Understandings

by Eric on June 1, 2009

US Special Envoy to the Middle East made it clear that the two countries are not best friends anymore. Mitchell said that any previous “understandings” from prior administrations.

On Tuesday, Israeli officials met with Mitchell in London, and Israel was disappointed by the meeting. Israeli officials also said that the US is not willing to negotiate or discuss settlement issues. “The United States is taking a line of granting concessions to the Palestinians that is not fair toward Israel.” (Ha’aretz)

Unfortunately, the criticism and demands are only one sided. The US has not required the Palestinians to dismantle terror organizations or live up to previous agreements such as the Oslo Accords. They are only after Israel today.
