United States Forces Leave Iraqi Cities

by Eric on June 30, 2009

As promised by Obama, US troops are pulling out of Iraq. So far, the untested Iraqi police have held the calm as celebrations took place across the country. Fireworks and cheers rose from the streets of Baghdad as the Americans started to head home.

The big question now is whether or not the newly trained police force will be able to prevent further sectarian violence. Terrorist bombings have plagued the country since the United States invaded.

For Israel, it would be best if the US left a strong police and military force that can control extremist groups. While Saddam was no friend of Israel, we do not know who is going to ultimately take control of Iraq.
