Israel Removes Two Checkpoints

by Eric on June 5, 2009

In reaction to Barak Obama’s big speech in Cairo yesterday, Israel has removed two more checkpoints in the West Bank.

In the speech, Obama asked Israel to make concrete steps to improve the lives of the Palestinians. This is a very visible step.

Israel moved the “Hableh Roadblock” and “Roadblock 442″ near the Palestinian town Qalqiya. A statement released by the government said that, “These steps were taken as a part of the goodwill measures authorized by the Israeli government following security assessments.”
