Forget Captain America, Meet Captain Israel

by Eric on June 29, 2009

Hardcore comic fans know the X-Men, The Incredible Hulk, Superman, and Captain America quite well. Their animated adventures have entertained millions of people for decades. In the 1970s, Marvel Comics introduced a supporting character named Ruth Bat-Seraph.

Ruth Bat-Seraph, not surprisingly, was no ordinary woman. Bat-Seraph is a beautiful Israeli woman on the surface, and a super hero named Sabra on the side.

Marvel is planning to boost the profile of the former IDF soldier. I am sure Jewish nerds around the world are excited to get their hands on Astonishing Tales #6, where Sabra helps the young Yael navigate her feelings about joining the IDF through a fun adventure.
Read more about Sabra’s new comic at the JTA or the JPost.
According to Marvel, she is a Mossad agent with the power of “Superhuman strength; flight; enhanced speed, agility, reflexes, durability, and ability to heal.”
