Netanyahu Puts Together Largest Government Ever

by Eric on March 30, 2009

Prime Minister Designate Benjamin Netanyahu has made more people a minister than any point in Israeli history. An expected 30 ministers, out of 120 MKs, will make up the cabinet. An array of new and old positions have been distributed to MKs across coalition parties.

Positions ranging from the traditional role of Transportation Minister to the newer roles of Sports and Culture Minister and Minister without a Portfolio but in charge of the Israel Broadcast Authority have been assigned.

Yisrael Beiteinu party chair and Foreign Minister Designate Lieberman hopes his party will also be assigned the Police Minister slot. The only Druze MK in Likud, Ayoub Kara, was appointed Minister of Development for the Negev and Galilee regions.

I can say that as fun as it sounds to be an Israeli MK, those cabinet meetings will definitely be long and drawn out. I am not sure how fun that sounds.
