US Will Give Gaza Nearly $1 Billion

by Eric on February 24, 2009

The United States is joining in a rebuild Gaza campaign and has pledged $900 million to the cause. United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is in Egypt working out the details now. The United States will “keep the money out of Hamas’ hands” by giving the funds to various NGOs to do the rebuilding work.

Is that like giving the Palestinian Authority money to help the Palestinians? They did that a lot when Arafat was in charge. If so, they should note that Arafat left his wife $3 billion when he died. That did not work.

I really hope the Palestinian living situation increases. However, It is not Israel’s fault that it is bad. Hamas does a reverse Robin Hood on the Palestinians in Gaza. Steel from the poor and buy weapons. The corruption is causing most of the economic disparity in Gaza. If these NGOs could build a power plant and water treatment facilities they would be doing more for Gaza residents than the PA or Hamas ever did. Rebuilding mosques for rocket storage is not helping anyone.
