Syria Has Chemical Weapons

by Eric on February 18, 2009

Commercial satellite photos show that Syria has been in the process of building a chemical weapons facility for quite some time. Between 2005-2008, the building at the site dubbed “al-Safir” has led to what intelligence officials say contains “defining features” of a chemical weapons plant.

To make things worse, the site is located near the suspected housing of Syrian SCUD D missiles. Chemical weapons can be mounted to the top of those missiles and fired into Israel. SCUD missiles were used by Sadam Hussein’s Iraq to pummel Israel during the first Gulf War. The range of the SCUD D is 700 miles.

Looks like Israel might have to re-distribute gas masks in the near future.
