It has been many years since the Israel Defense Forces have declared another country or organization a threat to the existence of Israel. The newest work plan for the IDF, however, lists a new threat that has the potential to wipe Israel out.
Iran is now listed as an existential threat to Israel and is the number one target of preparations for future operations and defense strategies. That is a higher threat than Hamas in Gaza or Syria, which both share a border with Israel.
I have been saying for quite a while now that Iran has the potential to wipe out Israel. It looks like the rest of the world is starting to notice too. Iran has a nuclear reactor and nuclear refinement facilities. Nuclear reactors result in weapons grade plutonium. That is the best case scenario if Iran is really just using its facility for civilian purposes.
A worst case scenario is that Iran is using the centrifuges around the country to enrich weapons grade uranium that can be used for a nuclear warhead. Iran has launched a satellite to outer space, it can easily reach Israel.
A nuclear bomb can easily wipe out a city. Israel is not that big. A bomb dropped over Ramla (between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv) would easily wipe out both cities. The fallout alone would render most of Israel’s prime real estate inhabitable.
It is great to see the IDF recognize the threat. Now it is time to do something. Not like in Gaza, they have to act like they did in 1967. Go in strong and deal with the problem.
