Only Egypt Can Stop Smuggling

Last night I heard a Professor in Israeli studies speak at a Chabad dinner, and what he said was very interesting. Only Egypt has the power to stop the smuggling.

Some of the tunnels into Egypt can go as far as 3 miles into the country. Some of the tunnels come up in cities and buildings near the Gaza-Egypt border.

Israel and the US have proposed a security zone in the few miles surrounding Gaza with intensive check points examining everything going in or out of the area. This is the only way to keep weapons from entering Gaza.

In addition, Egypt must monitor weapons entering Egypt. The rockets, guns, and military equipment are coming from somewhere. Most of it is entering Israel on the Suez Canal and making its way to Gaza.

Israel cannot stop that. The US cannot stop that. Only Egypt can make a difference. Lets see what they do.
