Obama Day 1: Calls to Abbas and Olmert

by Eric on January 21, 2009

Obama is about half way through his first day as President of the United States.

This afternoon he called Abbas to ensure he wants to work for a durable peace in the region. PA President Abbas was Obama’s first call to a foreign leader.

He later called Olmert to chat about the situation as well. Olmert promised that Israel was making efforts to get aid to the people who needed it.

Nothing groundbreaking, but an interesting first step as President.
