Lebanese Rockets Hit Northern Israel

by Eric on January 8, 2009

Three rockets fired from Lebanon exploded in Northern Israel opening up a possible second front on the current war in Israel, dubbed Operation Cast Lead.

Two Israelis were wounded near Nahariya. The IDF responded with fire on the location of the rocket launch. The wounded Israelis were in a nursing home, where a rocket blasted through the roof.

The IDF Northern Command believes that the rockets were fired by Palestinian terrorists in an isolated incident, rather than by Hezbollah. An attack by Hezbollah, however, has not been ruled out as a future possibility.

In the mean time, Hamas forces have retreated into mainly dense, urban areas as the IDF fight against rocket attacks continues.
