Israeli Soldier Killed by Gaza Roadside Bomb

by Eric on January 27, 2009

An IDF soldier was killed in a roadside bomb near the Kissufim crossing between Israel and Gaza. The bomb was placed on the fence line and detonated as an IDF vehicle was passing. Another soldier was seriously injured.

Israel responded with tank fire and helicopter strikes, reportedly killing one Palestinian.

This is the first major altercation between Israel and Hamas since a cease fire ended Operation Cast Lead last week. Of course it was Hamas who broke the calm.

Hamas blamed Israel, which is odd because an Israeli soldier was killed. Israel would not blow up its own trucks.
