Israeli Phone System Warns Before Air Attacks

by Eric on January 1, 2009

Israel has been using an interesting system to minimize casualties of military operations in Gaza over the last week. According to the AP, Israel has been using a system similar to reverse 911 calls in the United States.

Before a bombing operation takes place, Israel calls all phone numbers listed for the building to warn occupants to evacuate. Israel gives the occupants a short interval before starting the bombing mission on the target.

This is one of the many things Israel has done to protect civilians from bombs in Gaza. On the other hand, Hamas targets civilians in Israel.
