Lebanese rockets landed in Northern Israeli for the second time in a week escalating the tensions along an already hostile border.
Three Lebanese Katushya rockets exploded in Israel fortunately did not injure any Israelis.
The attacks did prompt a response from Israel, but not of the military sort. Israel used the same mass phone call technology it has been using to warn Palestinians of bombing missions to call Southern Lebanese homes.
The recorded messages did not warn of any pending attacks, but did leave a very blunt message. If the attacks continue, Israel will go to war with Lebanon again. Lebanese rockets have the range to hit Haifa, a large city in Northern Israel.
According to the AFP, one message said:
“People of Lebanon, launching rockets from southern Lebanon against innocents in northern Israel harms your own interests.”
The second message said:
“This is a statement from the state of Israel to the residents of southern Lebanon. If you allow groups like Al-Qaeda and Hezbollah to launch rockets against innocents in northern Israel as you did before, remember what happened to you last time.”
Hopefully the 2006 war, which was part of what sparked the beginnings of this blog, will not be repeated. However, like with Hamas, if rocket attacks continue the consequences will be devastating.
