Israel Closes West Bank Crossings as Tensions Rise

by Eric on January 1, 2009

Elevated tensions between Arabs and Jews in Israel have prompted the IDF to close all West Bank crossing points for two days.

The closure was deemed necessary by the Israeli government due to an increased risk of terrorist attacks from West Bank Palestinians. The general closure will take place from midnight Thursday until midnight Saturday.

Israeli and Palestinian police will not break up protest rallies, but will swiftly arrest all law breakers. No stone throwing or any other type of violence will be tolerated by police.

All Israeli police are on high alert across Israel due to the increased risk of violent confrontation around the country.
