IDF Troops Enter Gaza City

The Israeli Defence Force has pushed into Gaza city. The city is a densely populated, hostile area. When I picture Gaza City, I think of several scenes from the recent film “The Kingdom.”

The areas are heavily militant and hold many armed Hamas supporters. Israeli troops entered from the south of Gaza City, and are now battling the militant group responsible for thousands of rocket and mortar attacks on Israel.

The two week battle has Hamas leaders on the brink, and many believe that a cease fire may be close. Israel has proven that it will not bow to international pressures and will keep fighting until the primary military objective is complete. That object, of course, is the end of rocket and mortar attacks. A secondary object, also very important, is the closure of tunnels that have allowed for illegal weapons smuggling into Gaza.

Outgoing US President George W. Bush made a statement supporting Israel in its fight against Hamas terror.

Egypt, along with the support of many international parties including former United Kingdom Prime Minister Tony Blair, is working this week to put together a viable cease fire plan for the war torn region.

Keep tuned for more updates on the War in Gaza. What do you think will happen next? Let us know in the comments.
