Syria Wants The Kinneret

by Eric on December 17, 2008

Syria has made some large demands in the indirect peace talks taking place with Israel. A recent set of demands, however, cross lines a lot bigger than the Golan.

I have said time and again that it is not worth any price with Syria to give up the Golan. If you have ever been there, you have seen the proximity from the towering hillsides of the Golan to the population in the Kinneret region. Those hills were used in the 1960′s as an attack platform against Israelis. Many of the weapons used by Syria remain as a memorial to those killed.

Now Syria wants more. They have come out with a list of demands including a shoreline on the Kinneret (aka Sea of Galilee). This is Israel’s primary water source, and cannot be jeopardized.

Israel should not work with such a strong supporter of Iranian, Lebanese, and Palestinian terror. Period.
