40 km is a long way. Two rockets landed in Be’er Sheva today, including a rocket that hit an empty kindergarden.
With one of Israel’s largest cities now in range, Israel cannot stop striking Hamas terrorists. This is a war. Both sides are firing. This is not the massacre reported in anti-Semitic media.
My roommate returned from Israel last night and I had a chance to talk to him about his trip. While in Sderot, the siren sounded. My roommate and friend dashed to hide behind a wall, as no bomb shelter was within the 15 seconds he had to find cover.
That day around 80 rockets hit Sderot while my friend sat behind a wall. He listened to the popping in the distance as he sat with other participants of his trip hoping to survive the attack.
This friend was okay, fortunately, but he was being targeted by the rockets simply because he was in Sderot. Sderot residents are not soldiers. They are not evil people, as Iranian and Hamas media would tell you. They are nice Jewish families trying to live their lives. For this, Hamas tried to murder them.
A bomb was dropped by an Israeli plane on a Mosque in Gaza today. The Mosque was used to house rockets. Israelis don’t keep tanks or bombs in synagogues. Hamas members send their kids out to throw rocks and shoot at IDF soldiers. The Israelis keep their kids as far from the fighting as physically possible.
We are different people. I hope we can agree on one thing. Not killing each other. Until the rockets stop, however, Israel has to protect itself.
