Meretz Ends Party Elections

by Eric on December 14, 2008

87% (871) of Meretz eligible voters (995) turned up to the one polling station in Tel Aviv. This far left wing, bordering anti-Israel, political party only allows a small portion of party membership to vote in primaries.

Party chair Chaim Oron was pleased with the high turnout and results of the election. I am happy with Meretz results if none of them end up in the Knesset. The party, founded in 1992, currently has five Knesset seats. The party’s peak was 12 seats in 1992.
