Iranian Government Does Not Approve of Human Rights

by Eric on December 23, 2008

The UN is always quick to condemn Israel. Lets see if anything happens with Iran after this despicable act. Maybe Amnesty International will speak up? Probably not, they only hate Israel, not Arab Muslim countries.

Iranian police have closed the offices of the Center for the Defense of Human Rights, the main human rights organization in Iran. The center, headed by Nobel Prize winner Shirin Ebadi, was planning a celebration in honor of the 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The celebration was supposed to be later in the day, and “political activists” were scheduled to speak.

The center, seeded with Ebadi’s Nobel Prize money, also has a committee on fair elections. Maybe Ahmadinejad did not like the idea of losing? It could also have been the UN resolution discussing the “deep concern” about the human rights situation in Iran.

Either way, we know that even Iranians are having trouble with the Iran government. Not every Iranian is an enemy of Israel. Many of them might even support Israel. I bet Ebadi would rather operate in Israel, where groups that disagree with the government flourish, rather than the country that shuts them down.
