Jordan inked a deal with China yesterday to work together to build a civilian nuclear power plant in the Muslim country to Israel’s East.
Jordan has been completely open and transparent regarding its intention to create nuclear power, and is not under international scrutiny.
It was just revealed that a bombed nuclear site in Syria had traces of uranium. Iran is also involved in an international nuclear scandal surrounding their secret nuclear program.
Jordan currently relies on other countries for energy imports, but hopes to build a nuclear program to utilize natural uranium found in Jordan.
I am not opposed to seeing a nuclear Jordan as long as the current regime remains in power. Jordan has been a friend to Israel for quite a while now, and the two countries are working together on tourism and mineral projects around Eliat/Aquaba and the Dead Sea. My only concern would be handling of nuclear waste, which contains everything needed to build a nuclear weapon.
