Bush Makes Last Push For Peace

by Eric on November 5, 2008

As the Bush administration counts down days in office, Secretary of State Rice is making a last minute push for peace. While the effort is noble, at this point Bush and his crew need to leave it alone. The next two months will not provide for an opportunity for peace. It is simply not enough time and will not work.

This is a rare occasion in that I agree with Tzipi Livni. Livni told the US that there are not going to be “shortcuts” to peace. Until boarders and Jerusalem are agreed upon, there will be no peace. Right now no party in Israel has a right to negotiate something so serious. No party has a mandate to lead. Kadima, Likud, and Labor will all just have to wait. So will the United States. Barack Obama’s administration moves in on January 9th. Until then, everything is on hold.
