Black Friday in Mumbai

This post, again by new Israel Situation blogger Anthony, discusses the terrorist attacks in Mumbai that killed my Chabad Rabbi’s friend and hundreds of others. To tell you a bit more about Anthony, he is a finance professional originally from South Africa. He now resides in Israel. I hope he takes an opportunity to introduce [...]

The Long Waite

Anthony Reich decided to come on as a regular weekend blogger here at The Israel Situation. Welcome Anthony! Here is his first post: I recently completed reading the autobiography of Beirut hostage Terry Waite. His book entitled “Taken on Trust” is excellently written and a worthwhile read. It has, however, left me feeling bewildered. Terry [...]

Israel Preparing for Gaza Operation

“There’s no doubt we are getting closer to a wide-scale operation in Gaza, but it will be different from what took place in the past.” Deputy Defense Minister Matan Vilnai told media and others. The cease fire has been breaking apart for the last week or so as increased rocket attacks from Gaza have led [...]

Hamas Denies Jordan’s Attempt to Mediate Cease Fire

Jordan met with Israeli leaders to discuss mediation to continue the shaky cease fire in the region. Hamas leaders said no. This is further proof that Hamas has no interest in peace, but Israel does. Hamas simply wants to keep Israel from attack for long enough to re-arm. Hamas wants to kill Israelis. Israel wants [...]

Israel Offered Help in India

The Israeli military offered to help the Indian police forces in ending the terrorist siege in Mumbai, but were “politely” turned down. In the end nearly 200 are dead (current count) and hundreds more and wounded. The Chabad Rabbi and his wife were killed along with two Israelis and an American in the Jewish Center. [...]

Indian Comandos Strom Jewish Center

The Jewish Center in Mumbai, home to Chabad and other Jewish groups, was stormed by Indian special forces. A shootout followed inside the building. No news on those inside. I fear the worst with no news of what has happened. UPDATE: 5 hostages are dead in the Jewish center.

Large Terrorist Operation in Mumbai

The latest numbers show over 120 dead and indicate that many Jews were included. The terrorists took control of multiple hotels and other large buildings. Included was the home of Chabad. Israelis and Jews were specifically targeted. The carnage is widespread. There are still hostages at Chabad at this moment according to Fox News. I [...]

Ask The Readers: Gaza Boarder Closure

Israel is being demonized around the world for closing the Gaza boarder. Even Lybia joined in the donations to the “poor, suffering people in Gaza” (Everyone forgets when Muslims kill people though. No one is helping in Darfur.) Do you think Israel is wrong to close the boarder? What would you do if you were [...]

Guest Post: Cycle of Extremism

This post is by regular reader Anthony who maintains a blog at www.anthonyreich.blogspot.com. The Cycle of Extremism I am always intrigued to follow the political leanings of people who come to live in Israel. My contention is that, no matter where on the political spectrum people stand prior to coming to live in Israel, they [...]

Jordan On Track to Nuclear Power

Jordan inked a deal with China yesterday to work together to build a civilian nuclear power plant in the Muslim country to Israel’s East. Jordan has been completely open and transparent regarding its intention to create nuclear power, and is not under international scrutiny. It was just revealed that a bombed nuclear site in Syria [...]
