Saudi Paper Claims Deal Reached on Shalit

by Eric on October 16, 2008

According to the Saudi newspaper Ukaz, Israel has agreed to release 1,000 prisoners, many of whom are murderers, in exchange for Gilad Shalit.

This news comes from a Cairo based, “well informed” Palestinian source.

I find such a deal terrible. I would love to see the safe return of Gilad Shalit, but at what cost? 1 for 1,000 is simply not a worthwhile trade. I said the same after the Hezbollah deal. I want to see soldiers, dead or alive, returned home. However, I think we have to think long and hard before letting terrorists out of jail.
