Jews Support Obama 2 to 1

by Eric on October 20, 2008

In a recent US poll of presidential candidate preference, the 1,500 Jews supported Obama 2:1. The 67% who favored Obama made the Jews the most likely subset ethnic group among white voters to pick the Democrat candidate.

An interesting find, however, showed that of Jewish voters who said Israel was a “high” priority, 63% favor Obama. Of those who said Israel was a “very high” priority, that number dropped to 42%. Of Orthodox Jewish voters, 75% are expected to vote for John McCain.

Some pollsters suspect that changes in attitudes toward each candidate have changed over the past month since the poll was taken, and that Obama might get Jewish support as high as 3:1.

Just something interesting to think about. Have a good Shemini Ateret and Simchat Torah.
