Falafel Wars

by Eric on October 8, 2008

Leading in to the holiday best known for fasting, I thought I would do a post on food.

When you think of the national food of Israel, what is the first thing that comes to mind. Without hesitation, FALAFEL! What is going on now regarding Israel’s favorite food is almost so ridiculous it is funny.

Lebanon is suing Israel in international court for infringement in their rights over the food falafel. Greece has a deal in the EU that all cheese labeled as feta has to be Greek. Lebanon wants the same treatment for falafel.

This is a bit of a farce. The Arabs hate Israel so much they are trying to stop them from calling food falafel. You would think they would have something better to do with their time.
