Years After Entebbe, Israelis Help in Uganda

by Eric on September 7, 2008

We all know the story of Operation Thunderball, where a plane full of Israelis was hijacked and taken to Entebbe in Uganda. The story ended with a heroic mission by the IDF to save the kidnapping victims.

Today things are different. An Israeli woman started a campaign to build a school in Uganda. How did it turn out? Great.

Every morning, 60 students, between three and seven, come to the school for a healthy breakfast followed by classes taught by teachers trained by Israeli funds.

One teacher states, ”The kids really change when they come to the school,” she says. ”Some used to buy alcohol. Now it’s sweets. I give them basic knowledge, and they take it higher.”

Israelis really can forgive and forget. This is just one example of Israelis helping out in Africa. In most of the continent the help is truly needed.
