Terrorist Attack In Jerusalem Recap

by Eric on September 23, 2008

It seems that the terrorist failed. After driving his car at top speed into a group of Israelis (mostly soldiers) near the Jaffa (Yafo) gate of the Old City in Jerusalem, the 19 year old was shot dead. He injured about 15 people. No one was killed other than the driver.

The teenage driver is reported by the JPost as being affiliated with Hamas. Another rumor says that the teen was turned down after a marriage proposal and that sparked his attack.

Jerusalem police were on high alert due to Ramadan, though there was no intelligence that an attack would happen.

The attacker was from the same village as the attack who gunned down students at a Yeshiva not long ago. This is the third vehicular attack in recent months to take place in Jerusalem.
