Israel Asks US For Weapons, Denied

by Eric on September 11, 2008

Ha’aretz reports that Israel asked the United States for a list of weapons including bunker buster bombs and refuleing jets. In addition, Israel asked for a fly corridor over Iraq. The US said no.

Apparently Israel wanted to use these new weapons for an attack on Iranian nuclear sites. Who would have guessed that a hanful of 4,000 pound bombs and refuling jets coupled with a route to Iran would be used for an attack?

The US responded by giving Israel a fast tracked missile early warning and defense system. The system could be in place within a month and will come fully equiped with two US soliders. The site will be the first United States permanent presence in Israel.
