Reuter’s Headline Oxymoron of Sorts

Fatah fugitives in limbo at Israel-Gaza borderReuters – 4 hours ago The men,
members of President Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah faction who escaped a July 25 raid by Hamas police, had hoped that Israel would allow them out of the blockaded
coastal territory and on to the relative safety of the occupied West Bank.

Does anyone else see the irony here? Take a minute, see it? If not, here is my take: “relative safety of the occupied West Bank”. Isn’t an occupying force usually looked at as a bad thing. All regular readers know my thoughts on the term occupied to describe the West Bank (it isn’t), but this is just a little much.

The not occupied Gaza Strip is much more dangerous than the “occupied” West Bank. See what happens when we let them govern themselves? They like us much better anyway. Just ask Khaled Abu Tomeh.
