Obama Trip to Israel Recap

by Eric on July 23, 2008

What did Barak Obama do in Israel? He was busy.

First, he spent a morning with Israeli politicians, including Shimon Peres, Benjamin Netanyahu, and Ehud Barak. (Not Ehud Olmert) He then went to Yad Vashem and viewed details of the tradgedy that led to the founding of Israel.

After his morning in Jerusalem, Obama made the six mile trek to Ramallah and met with PA President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Salam Fayyad. They said that they apprecited the opportunity to meet with Obama, as John McCain did not meet with Palestinian leadership during his trip to Israel.

The big message Obama had for Israelis: We want to work with you to prevent a nuclear Iran.
The big message for the Palestinians: We want to expedite the peace process and work to have a two state solution.

Do you agree with Obama’s message? Let us know in the comments.
