The IDF is using a new laser system around Gaza to detonate explosive devices on the Gaza fence line. This technology, developed by United States company Raytheon, is being developed for airborne missiles.
LADS, Laser Air Defense System, is being tested by Raytheon for military use. It was first demonstrated in public at an event in the United Kingdom.
According to Raytheon, LADS can detonate a 60mm mortar at a distance over 550 yards. This would be a great step in securing Sderot and northern cities from Hamas and Hezbollah rocket and mortar attacks.
