Israeli Company Takes China Energy Green, or Blue

by Eric on July 13, 2008

An Israeli company, SDE Energy, has been contracted to build a large, commercial wave based energy power station on the China coast. The proven power system harnesses the up and down motion of the waves to generate non-polluting, “blue” energy.

The company has a working, full scale plant off the Tel Aviv coast near Jaffa. The Israeli plant produces 40 kilowatts of electricity.

The company is also in talks with US investors on raising funds and building a power plant off the coast of San Fransisco.

The largest obstacle in the China deal is approval from the Chinese government. That should be an easy process, however, as China is dealing with electricity shortages and terrible air pollution from the massive number of coal plants spread throughout the economically growing country.
