Is Iran Just Trying To Defend Itself?

by Eric on July 13, 2008

In an interested letter to the editor of the Baltimore Sun, a reader insinuates that Iran is not being agressive, but rather is just demonstrating a desire to protect itself. Less than a week after two days of long range missile tests, Israel and the United States are preparing for the worst. However, will Iran strike first? Are we pushing them into a hole?

Just two weeks ago, Israeli military aircraft took part in a large scale training operation that seemed eerily similar to maneuvers that may take place on long range bombing runs. The United States has two navy fleets positioned off the Iranian coast. Is Iran just nervous about being attacked? The claim that they ended their nuclear program in 2003.

So, are we just being to hasty? Are we making unjust assumptions?

NO. Iran’s president said that he will destroy Israel and that Israel and the United States will die. They are making threatening statements. They are unwilling to let nuclear inspectors in. They are refining nuclear fuel. They are a threat to the world, to Israel, to the EU, and to the United States. They deserve whatever they have coming.
