Hebrew University to Present Prestigous Award to Bill Gates

by Eric on July 8, 2008

Hebrew University of Jerusalem is presenting Bill Gates with the first ever Einstein Award. The award is named for Albert Einstein, who was integral in the founding of the university. The award is planned to be given rarely, and is for someone who has made a significant impact on humanity and changed the world.

Gates wavered over whether or not to accept the award for a year and a half, as this is his first connection to Israel or the Jewish people. In the end, Gates said that he accepted the award and attached his name to the university due to Hebrew U’s work to advance world agriculture.

Mazal Tov to both Bill and the Hebrew U family (which I am proud to be a part of) for the inaugural Einstein Award.
