Hamas Puts Shalit Prisoner Talks on Hold

by Eric on July 16, 2008

Just as Israel comences its terrible prisoner swap agreement with Hezbollah, a Hamas representative in Lebanon said that talks over kidnapped IDF soldier Gilad Shalit will not continue unless Israel and Egypt open up all boarder crossings.

Like with the soldiers captured by Lebanon, no one knows if Gilad Shalit is still alive. We hope he is, but there is no proof. If I were in charge of Israel, I would demand proof of life (confirmed via Red Cross or another non-partisan organization) before I took anything Hamas has to say seriously.
Israel has proven that a body is worth more than a live terrorist (or 5), and I am sure Israel will cave in to some rediculous agreement eventually either way.
