City Focus Israel: Sde Boker

by Eric on July 12, 2008

Sde Boker was David Ben-Gurion’s dream. The first prime minister of Israel had a dream of growing crops in the Negev, and building Jewish cities in the arrid desert. While a Kibbutz, and not a major city, Sde Boker is part of the Ramat HaNegev Regional Council.

The Kibbutz is now home to a winery and Davik Systems. It is located near Dimona and Yerucham in the Negev desert.

David Ben Gurion lived at Sde Boker from 1952 until his death in 1973. He and his wife are burried there (in nearby Medreshet Ben Gurion) and their home is now a museum (pictured).
