This week’s Motsei Shabbos blog of the week got me thinking. How much is gas in Israel, the US, and elsewhere in the world. We have regular readers in Australia, the UK, Israel, and the US, amongst other places. How do your gas prices compare? Oil reached a record of $147 per barrel on Friday, rising as tensions over an Israel-Iran war may interrupt oil production. All prices are in US dollars. All prices from Wikipedia unless otherwise noted. The highest in the world is Sierra Leone and the lowest is Venezuela.
United States – $4.098 per gallon (regular unleaded) reported by AAA July 12th, 2008
Israel – $8.04 per gallon (7 shekels) – June 30, 2008
United Kingdom -$8.82 – July 7, 2008
Australia – $5.75 – June 25, 2008
Saudia Arabia – .45 – May 16, 2007
Kuwait – .79 – June 24, 2008 from Swivel
Iran – .42 – June 27, 2008
Venezuela – .11 – April 6, 2008
Sierra Leone – $18.43 – May 1, 2008
