Recently, Avodah (Labor) party chair Ehud Barak threatened to break the coalition with Kadima. This was sparked by the corruption investigation into Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. Olmert was essentially found guilty when a New York businessman confessed to having bribed the Prime Minister.
So why did Barak stay with Kadima? Why did he fail to live up to his word? Why did he stay with a corrupt leader in another party? Politics. Sadly, doing what is best for himself (and his party) is not doing what is best for Israel.
Israelis deserve an early election. Israelis deserve the opportunity to elect a new goverment. According to polls, that government will be led by Likud and Benjamin Netanyahu will become Prime Minister once again.
It is unfortunate that Kadima and Labor officials are more worried about their own posts than the population and country they were elected to represent.
