Kiryat Shmona is a town in Northern Israel. The city of 22,000 was founded in 1950. The city was founded as a transit center for Olim.
The city has made international news a handful of times for terrorist attacks from Lebanon, streching as far back as 1974. Kiryat Shmona was a city targeted by Ketusha Rockets in the recent Lebanon war.
Modern Kiryat Shmona is well known for its connection to local Kibbutzim, including Kibbutz Manara, the home of an entreprenurial technology incubator. Kiryat Shomna lies in a beautiful valley in Israel’s North District, surrounded by beautiful hills, mountains, and overlooked by Har Meron in the distance.
