United States Congress Commends Israel

by Eric on April 26, 2008

The United States Senate and House of Representatives passed a resolution in honor of Israel’s 60th birthday. The resolution was passed unanimously.

In the resolution, the US “recognizes the historic significance of the 60th anniversary of the reestablishment of the sovereign and independent State of Israel as a homeland for the Jewish people.”

This is a great gesture from the United States, who is pushing for a peace process that might force Israel into an uncomfortable situation. The recent offer by Hamas, brokered by anti-Israel former President Jimmy Carter, would require Israel relinquish all territory captured in 1967, including Eastern Jerusalem, which houses the Old City.
